One of my best friends sent me this earlier and it’s just the vibe I was searching for.

“It’s like the Southern California of Europe.”

I have a theory about Portugal.

It’s a country that has developed a particular taste for the bitter-sweet. The blend of joy and sorrow – there’s an understanding here that you cannot actually separate pain and pleasure. One doesn’t exist, without the other.

In a way that has perfectly captured what this year has felt like for me so far. The Portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa wrote: “The value of things is not the the time they last, but the intensity with which they occur”

That is why there are unforgettable moments and unique people.
